When victims of crime sustain physical injury, an important first step is to ensure that those injuries are treated. Delaying or avoiding proper medical treatment will often prolong or complicate recovery from the incident. It is difficult to address other issues and problems associated with the victimisation if appropriate medical care isn’t provided in the first instance.
A record of your medical treatment can also be useful in any prosecution of your case and to support an application for criminal injuries compensation.
This section deals with the medical services available to help victims. The links provide more detailed information on each of the services.
